New Quilt off to the Quilter

I have been making hexies.... in the process of designing a new quilt.

These lovely hexies are made using a machine washable iron on fabric. They are the best invention. I will have these on the website soon. I will never go back to doing hexies the old fashioned way again.

This is my new quilt design on its way to the quilter. This is made using Folk Tale fabric by Cinderberry Stitches. This will be available in a kit form or pattern. There is applique, hexies and some embroidery in this quilt. It is a single bed size. made especially for my little girl.

Also just arrived in on Friday.. the new Flower Sugar range for 2013 Oh my gosh it is totally gorgeous!!

and a sneeky look at another quilt design I am also working on. This is made using Durham Anew fabric by Lecien and I am sooo pleased with it. It is very very pretty it has 5 stitchery blocks with the addition of a small amount of hand applique and yoyo's.

I have a Christmas Quilt almost finished... I have been very busy designing away.... the new design phase I am in at the moment has been encouraged by a lady in the fabric industry that seems to think I have a talent that needs to be put out there.... so this quilt above is going to be names after her... The name and the total picture of it is yet to come...  It must be quilted first  xx

Hugs to all and have a great day!

Tilda Wooden Spools

I purchased some wooden spools, they are not Tilda and are slightly smaller but they do the same thing.

I painted them with white acrylic paint and Mod Podged the printable circle onto the top. The printable circle was too large for the spools I had to reduce by 50% for it to fit onto the top.
These are quick and easy to make.

The rose pins I made a little while back ... these add some prettiness

I lovely addition to my studio

Christmas Quilt in the making

This is my new quilt at the designing stages.

When I did my class with Lynette Anderson a few weeks ago I was inspired. I learnt newish techniques or better techniques for what I love to do. I am always drawing and doodling. As you know I have put up a few free stitchery designs at different times.

I felt challenged in myself to create my own Christmas quilt design using Lynette's new fabrics for Christmas called Christmas Fun fabrics. The hurdle I was finding hard to jump over was that these are fabrics designed by a designer and she uses them in her own designs. I could not get my head around trying to do something of my own with her fabrics. Lynette mentioned in class that she had come across someone in blogland that had created a tablerunner using Lynette's fabrics.. it was like a light went on in my head and I thought.... I am going to give this ago.

So I came home and got drawing.

The above stitchery blocks is what I have come up with.... I am thinking of doing a log cabin type of block for each stitchery. I have had so much fun doing the applique and stitching.

Writing the pattern is the hard part!

Have a good weekend

My last 10 Days

This is a pincushion design I came up with last week.
This will be sold as a kitset in my webshop that is soon to open.

I received my first box of Tilda fabric on Friday.
This would have to be one of my favourite ranges in Tilda

Also
I joined up in a Pincushion Swap.
I tried something slightly different to what I normally make.
Needle felt... I used roving and felted it with a felting needle and created
this
The cherry is also made using a needle felt.
and of course I had to add some polymer clay pins

I also made a needle felted cupcake applique for the needlecase

This was loads of fun to make.
I wasnt that happy with the quality of the workmanship but I had run out of time and had to send it on.
I made it for Magaret... I will put her blog up soon.. I have to go into another email to fetch the link.

This is what Margaret made me.
Her work is just beautiful
The egg cup is a vintage Noritaki China Egg Cup.. something I just love

A closer look.

Have a great day

Fabric, fabric and more fabric

What gorgeous fabric!
I purchased these on the weekend... I forgot to show you these yesterday.

Here I am to day to confess my fabricholic problem!

Gorgeous Lecien .... these are some of the stock I have for my website that is soon to open.
I am dreaming ideas up for this fabric.. yummy!

I am a linen lover.
This is some fabric I purchased on the weekend also.
I have some Christmas Stitchery ideas for these gorgeous fabrics.

I also love grey and red together.

You all probably think I dont really know what I like.. well that is kind of true.. I have numerous tastes in fabric... I almost need a room for every fabric colour love!

Some little boy fabric... I have four boys... and I find that there really isnt alot out there for boys.. so boys must be catered for in my little shop... it carnt be all pink and white now can it!?

I love laminated fabric.. I have come across this lovely fabric .. my little man is looking forward to something being made for him in this..  I am dreaming up a pattern.. not sure what yet.

The latest Riley Blake fabric Peak Hour...  I just LOVE this fabric.
This will be in store also..  just have to wait on a bit of stock before I can go live.. it is all a little frustrating to say the least... anyhow I will get there eventually.

I had to laugh yesterday Shez, if you are reading this.. The baby chino or the fluffy.. in our accents does sound rather hilarious... I had a laugh about that. Read the below post regarding the Aussie and New Zealand story regarding what we call a child's mild drink at a cafe

Have a great day

New Fabrics and more bookmarks

I have had a couple of orders for more bookmarks. I have had to make 16 of these this week. I had alot of fun making these. I have done a few different colour ways.

Also I have been collecting fabric. We can never be without fabric can we?!! Oh no, not us fabricaholics. Here are some pics of SOME of the latest fabrics I have acquired.I buy some of my fabrics off our auction site here in New Zealand.I get some good bargins...people that are getting rid of some of their stash.I have also found a shop that sells 5 fat quarters for $25.00NZD each..which is a very good price for NZ.

I collect pink fabric....these are some of the pinks I have bought lately. I will be using them for my little girl, she is 4 years old and LOVES pink.

These fabrics, aboveI have been collecting for some months. I am wanting to make a Baltimore quilt, with hand applique.I won a number of these fabrics at a draw we had at my quilting group...this inspired me to collect more.

and lastly I am a Loralie fan... I am also collecting her fabrics to make bags for gifts for friends and family for Christmas. I LOVE the red one... so watch the space..I hopefull will come up with some new things soon

Take care
