Cupcake Frenzy

 Ive been baking cupcakes.
I love creating these little morsels of prettiness

The rolled roses are so simple. Written instructions below
I made these specially for my little man for school lunches.

They were a slight disaster as the icing went abit strange on me... but Im sure you get the idea of what I was trying to acheive.

Rolled Rose instructions:
Use a small amount of gum paste or fondant.

Roll out a small ball of fondant approx 1 in deep and about 3 in long... so it is a long narrow strip.
Roll from one end making sure that the petals dont stick together.. there has to be a gap so it looks llike a rose, as shown in the picture below.

Cut the bottom so rose is the desired size and pop it into the icing on the cupcake.

For the little leaf I used a tiny ball of fondant or gumpaste.
I moulded it in my hand with my finger to create a teardrop shape. I then pinched it a little at the round end  that is how to make a leaf.

The last few days...

It was my friend Suzy's funeral today.
Last night myself and three other friends prepared a couple of tables in her favourite colours...Pink and White.
It looked a little girls party...which is what Suzy would have loved. There were a number of children there and they just loved this. We called it 'Suzy's Teaparty'

The last conversation I had with Suz was about Cakepops. She was in a hospice that wasnt far from one of our favourite kitchen shops, 'Milly's', Im sure some of you New Zealand ladies would have heard of it. She asked me if I was going to go there and if so what was I going to buy! well, I went and ended up buying a few things for my love of cupcakes and cake pops.

My cakepops.
Dipped in pale pink chocolate and then dipped again in white chocolate.
Yummy!

I picked some flowers from my neighbours garden, wrapped a bow around the stems and put them on the plate of meringues I made. I put a small amount of pink colouring in the cream. I got this idea from a board that Suzy had pinned on Pinterest.

This is a closeup photo of one of the beautiful little rosebuds.

I was walking around the garden admiring the beautiful roses.
It was a beautiful morning this morning, our neighbours have a water feature that was just making that soothing sound of water. The sun was shining and it there was a crisp feeling in the air. I looked down and saw the morning dew on the rose petals.
Just beautiful

So it has been a very busy few days.

Now I have to prepare my sons 5th birthday Racing Car Party for Saturday.. I do hope I get some sewing done at some stage.

PS... Colour Swap Partners have been emailed out.
If there is anyone out there that has not received your email please get in touch.

Some sweeties

I have made a special friend in blogland.
Cat is her name.
You can visit her blog HERE
We have done the Tilda Swaps together.
Today I went for lunch with Catherine (Cat) is her nickname. I made her the above cupcakes in her favourite colours. Pink, red, mint green and aqua blue. The box was an old shoe box that I kept. I covered it with paper and it fitted 4 cupcakes in perfectly....

I LOVE to decorate cupcakes.

I purchased the little roses from a specialised cake shop

I also made Cat this little bag.
I have one and use it for my scissors, cutters etc. I used a vintage zipper and Tanya Whelan fabrics

I made a bead tassel ( I guess you would call it) to hold when opening
These are very easy to make with wire and abit of twisting.

My new little tags

The inside.

I am going to do up a tutorial for this bag soon.... on the to do list.

Also, I didnt win the competition for Favecrafts... but I was so very happy to have made it into the Top 10.

Take care
