Granny Square became a Pincushion

My intention was to make a blanket

Well sometimes we get impatient or sidetracked while we are creating, dont we.. SMILE

I decided I would make a little pincushion with one of the square's from my post the other day.

I also thought I would do up a tutorial.. so I will endeavour to do that this week.

I will also do a tutorial on how to make a Granny Square... as Leeanne said she wanted to learn... Hopefully Leeanne this will inspire you to have a go!!

Granny Square

Im making some granny squares for a blanket.

I purchased some DMC crochet cottons to make some cocheted toys but be I found the cotton was splitting  was hard to work with.  So I decided to use them up and make a scrappy crochet blanket... I will add white around all the square then join them together.

One of my favourite things at the moment is corchet and knitting  at night while watching TV. It is so relaxing.

What are you creating at the moment?

A Catch Up

Firstly, Id like to apologise to you all who are supposed to be doing the Tilda Sew Along with me

I havent been doing too much Sewing Along Im afraid

I have purchase this book and I was delighted to see the knitted cardigan in there for a Tilda...

Im not one to talk about my personal going's on in my life over my blog and I am not after any sympathy. I just thought I had better touch bases so that I do not leave people guessing as to what on earth is going on.

I am still alive!

Sometimes things just get too hard..... Too hard to even pick up the fabric and sew.. I have been using a crochet hook and a spinning wheel.... also have managed to get a needle, thread and fabric out to do some stitching but that is where it has stopped.

All I ask is for you to be patient with me... I will get to it, that is a promise.

I have been asked for a tutorial on the denimn jacket for the Tilda Doll as well, I will also get to that. My intention has been to do a number of tutorials for Tilda but it has been in the toooooo hard basket.

The crochet hook as been busy, as has the dyeing pot and the wheel... below is just some over the things I have been up to over recent months.

I find spinning very very relaxing... I have so much spun yarn now I reallyl dont know what to do with it all LOL...  The above photo is the size of a large bowling ball... I thought it might make a great TV blanket.

Have a great weekend

What Have I been up to?

I have a been up to quite abit lately.
I made this Annie type doll for a showcase I am in this week on Facebook. I love the challenge of showcases. I love to put my creative thinking cap on and look to come up with some One of A Kind type of things... this is my first ever one and I have booked into 4 so far.

The doll above dosent have a name as yet.. I had better put my thinking cap on to come up with that before she goes on sale. The showcase is of a Cartoon Theme for children... there is lots of lovely things that have been created by lots of handcrafters here in New Zealand and Australia.

We have also been away.
A friend has a lovely place in Queenstown New Zealand we were able to stay in
We had a lovely time down there

We had beautiful weather and the trees are starting to turn beautiful colours with Autumn

I am an animal lover.
I have also recently become very much in love with fibre art. I love to spin, dye and ply wool. I love to do things with fabric, wool, cotton and embroidery thread together. I have been experimenting. So while we were away I got to pat an Alpaca.. their fleece is so soft and they are the most amazing colours.

I have been spinning abit of Alpaca latley and it is sooo soft and warm..

This is a hat I made for a friends little baby due in a few weeks.

This is Sophia with a cute little hat and scarf set.

I made these matching hats for these precious little girls recently. What little cuties they are!

and in the process of getting stock together for my website I made this newborn dress. This is made from lovely hand-dyed machine washable wool

I had some dyed wool roving left over after I had done some spinning... so I made this cute little rose out of it..... I thought it would be a cute little addition to my beanie hats I am making.

So I have been busy busy... there is alot more to show you but this post would be super long if I did..

Have a great day

My doings ...

My little girl turned 8 on Friday

I have always wanted to make one of these cakes... I watched a Youtube video to get the idea of how to do it and then put my new found skills from my class into action

Laura loved it and so did her friends.

Ive also been doing some spinning

My spinning is of the thick and thin variety

As I do more it is getting more even... but I love the twisting and thick and thin effect and it knits up beautifully

The above photo is of  NZ Wool and also Alpaca which is beautifully soft.

I also made this hat... it is crocheted with handspun wool.... It is meant to be an owl.. my famiily think it looks like a monster!!

I have also been working on a bag
African Flowers made with hand dyed cotton.. that I just LOVE.

The bag is going to be fab with these gorgeous colours.

Happy creating my friends

Baby Crochet

I have been very busy crocheting of late.

Making all sorts of babywear

The above photo is a beanie and nappy cover - this size for a newborn

A number of years ago I used to have a few people knitting for me and I would do the final embellishments before the garments were sold. This label was called Little Honey.  I also sewed other garmnents and embellish them too, these were supplied to a couple of retail outlets.]

So I have decided to pick this up again, as it is something I love to do and I am passionate about.

I have 1001 things on the go. I have fabric, yarn, embroidery thread etc all around me. I have constantly creating .... everyday. I am loving it.

This is just the beginning. I have a number of other things in mind..

I am not the sort of person who likes to mass produce. So I just create as the inspiration comes to me. Custom orders are taken, if you ever see anything you would like.

I have an Easter Tutorial all ready to go... have I had the time to upload it  NO...

As for the Tilda Lovers out there..... the love is still there for me. I just have been busy getting my stock up and things sorted for my website.  I have a little Tilda doll cut out ready to make.

Have a great day
