Android Phone Case

I was out a few weeks ago for dinner with some blogging friends
It was a fun night with lots of laughs.. Cat in fine form  :-) cracking us up with her stories etc.
Jacqui had an iphone case she had made, click HERE to see it. I just LOVED it. I'm a lover of linen and red. This iphone case inspired me to make one for my phone. I have an android so I got sewing a few days later.

The above photo is what I came up with... and of course it is made from Tilda fabrics.

'
What I liked about Jacqui's case was that it didn't have a tab or button that you had to open, this way the phone was easily accessible.
It didn't take long to make.... I added a frill and some Tilda ribbon just to spruce it up abit.

Have a great weekend

Latest creations and....

Hi all, I have been a little quite lately
Ive had a bit on with organising my website.... we are on the final leg of this now so it shouldn't be long before we are up and running.

The above photo is a sneak peak and another design I have been working on.
More to come on these cute Babushka dolls
Lovely Michelle from It's Sew Me lovingly stitched these up for me for the front page of the pattern.
They were a trial to see how they looked.
When I opened the package and saw them I was so thrilled with how fantastic they looked.

Thank you Michelle for a job well done... I am just so excited with how they turned out!!

I am in the Santa Sack Swap this year. My partner is Michell from Michell's Place
I made this bag from a whole piece of fabric. It is a cylinder. Inside is the two gifts I sent off with the sack. I enjoyed making the sack and the gifts also. This is a very fun swap indeed!

Below are some photos of the doll kits I will have on my website.
All my favourite's with more to come.

One of my favourite Tilda Dolls

This kit has the two santa's in the box

I LOVE this santa!

I have other things I have been working on but just haven't taken the photos as yet.

I hope you have all been busy creating yourself..

Covered Notebook Tutorial

You will need:
A notebook
Craft Glue
Wadding
Fabric
Embellishments such as yoyo's, felt, lace etc

Cut the wadding to the size of the whole notebook opened, cover to cover

Glue the front cover of the notebook and press the wadding onto it.

Do the same for the back as pictured above

Cut the fabric slightly larger than the notebook allowing you to fold the fabric over

Cut the corners and the centre of the fabric on the diagonal. Fold over as pictured. Make sure you glue around the edges before folding. Dont use alot of glue
Now is the time to embellish the front with the lace, if that is what you want to do. As you have to have the edged fold over to the inside of the cover as the fabric... the below picture show how to cover up the untidiness of this. If you are going to use a yoyo skip this step.

Glue the front page and the back page as pictured above to the front and back cover of the notebook.
This will cover up the folded fabric edges

You have completed your notebook... now time to embellish it.

For this notebook I used some lace and some daisies.
on the below notebook I used a yoyo with a felt base.

Altered Box

I visit Michelle's blog  ITS SEW ME. Michelle and I keep in touch over email from time to time.
It is lovely how we can get to know each other in this online crafty community.

Michelle has a cafty group that gets together. I noticed that each month the seem to do some sort of challenge. Last months challenge was to do an Altered Box. They were going  to use a brown paper mache' box from Spotlight. I had one in my craft room to use. I decided to join the challenge for some fun.
As my lovely friend had passed away I was not really up to it but on the weekend I got to creating.

I painted it with a paint that has paper in it.
It takes a while to dry but the effect is really great.
I sprinkled some mother of pearl glitter on the top for some prettiness - we all love a bit of prettiness don't we?

These are paper roses and rosebuds.
I did this arrangment using craft glue

My Shabby Chic picture in the background
This is a series of stitcheries that I will be bringing out in the next few months

Thanks Michelle for giving me the opportunity to join in.. it was fun!

Im in the process of moving my craft room into a new room. For my webshop I needed a studio. I place to store all the fabrics and patterns and have abit of organisation.
So while I am doing this I am finding alot of things.

This above photo is of the design that I used to teach in my classes I used to run.

A closer look.

Have a great day.

Babushka Doll

This is my latest creation Babushka Doll designed  by Lisa Tilse from The Red Thread.
I purchased her at the craft show I attended just over a week ago.
She is the cutest.
She has blonde hair and blue eyes just like my little girl. I bought another face. The other face has black hair and blue eyes. I am going to make her into a doorstop. They are a good size and would make the perfect doorstop for a little girls bedroom....all you have to do is put a bag of sand..stones or rice, to weigh it down.

I still have to sew her face on properly, I will do that tonight... and I will add a 3D felt flower to her hair...I just wanted to show you what Ive been up to.

I also purchased Lisa's pattern Roxy Long sox. She is kind of cute too.

PS.. the Part 2 of the Tilda Bunny Sew Along is below.

Humbag Tutorial and....

I have been enjoying making these bags of late.
The above bag is made from Tilda fabrics
I love the idea of the bead tassel. So with this bag I decided to do something abit different
I used Tilda felt. I made a little heart and did a bullion stitch rose on it. I have attached it to the zip
with some wire and beads... just makes a nice touch to finish it of

A closer look

This is also made from Tilda fabrics
Im on  a roll making up a Christmas present stash

The embroidered roses are done with Tilda threads too

A closer look at the fabric and the simple free motion quilting

Tea Cup Purse

Yesterday I went and had a sewing day with Catherine from Catalina's Cottage.
I was feeling rather unwell so I sat on her couch and did a crochet square while she made a Tilda Lavendar Wing. I have a virus of some sort and I was enjoying very much sitting in front of her fire, chatting and watching the movie Enid.

When I got home I took some Brufen to dull the incredible unwell feeling I had. I felt rather inspired by Catherine.. her love of sewing and creating, last night I decided to make something that has been on my to do list for a very long time.

I spotted a tutorial for these teacup purses about 18months ago. You know how it goes, you download these patterns and never get around to making them. Well, this wasnt a pattern, you had to draw that up yourself. I just think they are so cute. This one is made from a Timeless Treasures fabric. The Teacup has teacups and the little bag has cakes. Inside the little bag is teabags.

This could be used as a coin purse for a little girl

I decided to make this as I didnt have any teabags wrapped separately. Just a very simple bag with a ribbon attached.

The inside of the little purse.

I will be making some more. They are quick and simple to make. I just wish I had alot more friends that liked to have cups of tea.

I have been doing a bit of crochet as I said. I am making 4in squares with crochet flowers in the middle.. These will probably be made into a bag. Watch the space for that.

Take care

FELT FLOWER ON A LARGE PAPER CLIP

I have seen these paperclips with the decoration on the top being made from paper punches.
I decided to have a go and making some with felt flowers. The felt flower will be another tutorial I will have up on my blog soon. They are made similar to the felt rose but with a different template.
These large paperclips are are great idea for a Christmas gift. They make great bookmarks too.

Whats in the box?

What's in the box?

It is my husband's stepmum's birthday and he asked me to make her a gift.
So I got to sewing and made her
a
Tilda Purse, from the book Sew Pretty Homestyle by Tonne Finnanger
This purse is made from Tanya Whelan fabrics. I am a lover of her fabrics just as much as Tilda, Moda and Leicen.. oh and others of course.

To pretty the purse up I used a Tilda ribbon across the front and a bead tassel made with wire. The wire is wrapped around the beads and secured.. pretty simple really but very effective.

Also
I have been making hexies (shock horror!!) yes hexies. Im NOT a hexie lover,as some of my blogging friends know, but I have these plastic hexie templates that I purchased from HERE .. Kiwi Quilts here in New Zealand. These hexies are very quick and easy to make. I have made ten so far and have 35 more cut out. These could be used as coasters for Christmas gifts, the size I used for these is the size for a coaster but I am going to make them into a Christmas Quilt. I have used a decorative feather stitch to attach the backing fabric to the front of the hexie. I will use a large feather stitch to attach the hexies together. I hope to have it finished next week so come back and see the finished product. The fabric used for this quilt are from Basic Grey, I carnt remember the name of this years and last years fabrics..but Im sure someone can tell me.

Attention Leanne: You left a comment on my Tilda Stocking Post. I cannot reply to you as you are on 'no reply' to answer your question, the following link will take you to where I purchase my Tilda fabrics from
HERE .. this is Puddlecrafts in the UK

I met Sarah from Red Gingham the other day at Calico Christmas. It was lovely meeting up with you Sarah and thank you for being a Swap Angel and making your gorgous gift.
Also I met up with Loreen quite by accident, this was one of my Colour Swap ladies. Lovely to meet you Loreen, it is always nice to put a face to a name.
