Wool Felt Sewing Case

Hi everyone
I havnt been on here for a while. My dad hasn't been that well, it seems that the morphine dosage is going up by the week at this stage. So my motivation has been slightly sluggish.

I have been enjoying my crocheting, knitting, handstitching and embroidery though.

I saw this made up in a shop recently and liked it so much I purchased a kit.
While I was making it I went with the embroidery pattern but kind of changed it around as I pleased. I love doing free style embroidery.

I just love embroidery. I have been doing this art for nearly 40 years.. hmmm that makes me very old!! lol

This is the inside of the case.
A place for:
Needles
Pens
Scissors
Pins
Thimble
And my packet needles

Wool felt is so nice to work with... so soft and the needle just glides in without a problem.

I just love it. I have some other goodies to show you too.

I have been doing a hand stitching class, the Japanese method. I totally love it. I have made two cotton reel holders and now Im making a toilet bag.

Ill have a post showing these soon.

Whats in the box?

What's in the box?

It is my husband's stepmum's birthday and he asked me to make her a gift.
So I got to sewing and made her
a
Tilda Purse, from the book Sew Pretty Homestyle by Tonne Finnanger
This purse is made from Tanya Whelan fabrics. I am a lover of her fabrics just as much as Tilda, Moda and Leicen.. oh and others of course.

To pretty the purse up I used a Tilda ribbon across the front and a bead tassel made with wire. The wire is wrapped around the beads and secured.. pretty simple really but very effective.

Also
I have been making hexies (shock horror!!) yes hexies. Im NOT a hexie lover,as some of my blogging friends know, but I have these plastic hexie templates that I purchased from HERE .. Kiwi Quilts here in New Zealand. These hexies are very quick and easy to make. I have made ten so far and have 35 more cut out. These could be used as coasters for Christmas gifts, the size I used for these is the size for a coaster but I am going to make them into a Christmas Quilt. I have used a decorative feather stitch to attach the backing fabric to the front of the hexie. I will use a large feather stitch to attach the hexies together. I hope to have it finished next week so come back and see the finished product. The fabric used for this quilt are from Basic Grey, I carnt remember the name of this years and last years fabrics..but Im sure someone can tell me.

Attention Leanne: You left a comment on my Tilda Stocking Post. I cannot reply to you as you are on 'no reply' to answer your question, the following link will take you to where I purchase my Tilda fabrics from
HERE .. this is Puddlecrafts in the UK

I met Sarah from Red Gingham the other day at Calico Christmas. It was lovely meeting up with you Sarah and thank you for being a Swap Angel and making your gorgous gift.
Also I met up with Loreen quite by accident, this was one of my Colour Swap ladies. Lovely to meet you Loreen, it is always nice to put a face to a name.

The 'other' quilt Im working on...

Well the title says the 'other' quilt Im working on...its really one of the many quilts Im working on.. I wouldnt like to list how many projects I have on the go as it is rather embarrassing.

This is the first block for Seasons of the Heart by Leanne Knell for Petals and Patches. I had a bit of a disaster with the corner blocks so I had to use something from my stash to fix that up. Im a bit naughty when I make things from patterns. I find it very hard to stick to it and I go off and do my own thing.

Also here are the Shepherd Bush Stocking I have done... as I said in the last post I just have to make them up. 3 made and 3 more to go...one for each child.

These are made from shell... Paua shell and a mother of peral type shell..

This is called a Garden Bracelet.. I have made many of these in many different colour ways and given them away as gifts.

So thats me for today....

New Fabrics and more bookmarks

I have had a couple of orders for more bookmarks. I have had to make 16 of these this week. I had alot of fun making these. I have done a few different colour ways.

Also I have been collecting fabric. We can never be without fabric can we?!! Oh no, not us fabricaholics. Here are some pics of SOME of the latest fabrics I have acquired.I buy some of my fabrics off our auction site here in New Zealand.I get some good bargins...people that are getting rid of some of their stash.I have also found a shop that sells 5 fat quarters for $25.00NZD each..which is a very good price for NZ.

I collect pink fabric....these are some of the pinks I have bought lately. I will be using them for my little girl, she is 4 years old and LOVES pink.

These fabrics, aboveI have been collecting for some months. I am wanting to make a Baltimore quilt, with hand applique.I won a number of these fabrics at a draw we had at my quilting group...this inspired me to collect more.

and lastly I am a Loralie fan... I am also collecting her fabrics to make bags for gifts for friends and family for Christmas. I LOVE the red one... so watch the space..I hopefull will come up with some new things soon

Take care

I made a wall hanging today...

I bought this pattern a while ago..it had the painted wooden angel and the hearts in the kit..I chose the fabrics. I LOVE Leicen fabrics. They are made in Japan and I just love the colours. I have been collecting these fabric for a while now..so I have used some in my stash to make this wallhanging...it is quite a long wallhanging..The photo really dosent do it justice at all. I havnt handsewn the back yet and the pins are still in it..hence the reason why it is looking a bit weird in shape. I just had to post it..Im quite impatient sometimes.. Im a "Ive got to get it finished" person.

Here are the bookmarks I taught just over a week ago...I just love the pearl ones. They are simply exquiste. The workshop went so well..I did two in fact. The were a hit and I have been asked to do three more...These bookmarks are different to ones I have seen in the shops. They have a rose pattern engraved on them...they are simply gorgeous, to say the least..If you would like to buy the metal bookmark hooks please email me and I will send you a paypal invoice....The metal bookmark is $2.95NZD, this price is not for the completed bookmarks. I can make these up for you on request.

Here is a bouquet of roses I received a voucher for. I picked them up on Saturday...these were given to me as a thank you for teaching the classes.

Take care Lisa
