Handsewing Knitting

I have been doing a hand stitching class with a lovely Korean lady here in Auckland
She is a fantastic teacher and has taught me many new techniques.

The above bag is a large carry bag with pockets on the inside and a large drink bottle pocket on the outside.
This entire bag is hand stitched, hand quilted and hand embroidered.
The handles on the bag have also been hand stitched on.

I loved making this bag so much. I love hand stitching the Japanese method... not much use for a sewing machine handsewing everything.

I also did a class to make this owl brooch.
All hand made with no sewing machine either.

I am also enjoying knitting.
I have been knitting mainly at night.
This is a cute knitted vest, booties and beanie for a newborn little girl.

Hi to my new followers.

Tilda tutorials are coming soon.... Im working on these

Happy sewing

Handspun Suri Alpaca Booties

I love to spin my own wool

I havnt done any for a while and I thought how Id love to get back into it.

I spun this Suri Alpaca... wow it is so very soft and snuggly

This is what Suri Alpaca look like.

I purchased carded Suri and spun it then knitted it into these precious little newborn booties. I highly recommend alpaca wool.

Have you tried spinning yourself?
It is a rather frustrating craft to start with but once you know what you are doing it is very relaxing.

Happy Days to you

Baby Knitting

I have been doing abit of knitting recently
This little outfit has been knitted for a friend... it will fit their baby in the winter time.

The yarn I used is handdyed by Jo from Jodulbug Creations . I love handdyed yarns. When they are knitted or crocheted not two outfits are the same.
This is a machine washable yarn... easy for a busy mum!

I havnt been doing too much on the creative side recently. My dad is not well, as I shared with you a little while back. The sad thing is, which is something I come across over blogland quite a bit, my dad's chemo hasnt worked. So now it is just enjoying each day until his time comes. With this and many other things that come up in life my creative juices have just not been flourishing as I would like. So here's hoping that 2014 will be a year of feel more creativity... I have so many ideas and no motivation I want to do.

I hope all your Christmas organising is going well....  Im hoping to get some Christmas baking done in the next few days.

Hugs

A Catch Up

Firstly, Id like to apologise to you all who are supposed to be doing the Tilda Sew Along with me

I havent been doing too much Sewing Along Im afraid

I have purchase this book and I was delighted to see the knitted cardigan in there for a Tilda...

Im not one to talk about my personal going's on in my life over my blog and I am not after any sympathy. I just thought I had better touch bases so that I do not leave people guessing as to what on earth is going on.

I am still alive!

Sometimes things just get too hard..... Too hard to even pick up the fabric and sew.. I have been using a crochet hook and a spinning wheel.... also have managed to get a needle, thread and fabric out to do some stitching but that is where it has stopped.

All I ask is for you to be patient with me... I will get to it, that is a promise.

I have been asked for a tutorial on the denimn jacket for the Tilda Doll as well, I will also get to that. My intention has been to do a number of tutorials for Tilda but it has been in the toooooo hard basket.

The crochet hook as been busy, as has the dyeing pot and the wheel... below is just some over the things I have been up to over recent months.

I find spinning very very relaxing... I have so much spun yarn now I reallyl dont know what to do with it all LOL...  The above photo is the size of a large bowling ball... I thought it might make a great TV blanket.

Have a great weekend

Felt Rose

Well I was pretty excited yesterday
I was in my stats for Lydias Treasures and I saw a link there that I hadnt seen before
I clicked on it and came to this blog LoveLove

Courtney had used by Felt Rose Tutorial for the clips and hairband she made above.
I just LOVE what she has created. So cute.

This Rose Tutorial of mine has had over 27,000 views. Astounding isnt it!?
I made that rose when I made a mistake on my Phoebe elephant designed by Melly and Me
in the below photo
I had to find a way to cover my mistake.. well necessity is the mother of inventions.
I created this rose then decided to do the tutorial.

I am amazed at how many visits this cute little rose has had.

Another blogger used this tutorial as well.
This rose is made from an old knited jumper that has been felted.
This blog is Resweater I just love what did with it.

This is what Im knitting
Im doing it in a lovely red
I hope to get this finished! but I do get bored LOL!
It is a cape not a jacket.. just gorgeous I think.
