Cathedral Window Pincushion

Cathedral Window Pincushion

I have never done Cathedral Window before.
I watched a video on YouTube on how to do it.

My pincushion is all handstitched, no machine used.
I also made mine a slightly different way to the video

I thought Id share the video with you incase you wanted to have a try. They make such a lovely gift for a friend, or a nice addition to your pincushion collection.
If you are anything like me, I have a number of pincushions.. I love making them and I love using them.

A girl can never have too many pincushions

Crochet Pillow Pincushion

I had a friend over today
We have known each other through the blog community for a while

Last year we would catch up on a Wednesday with Leonie from 3 x Sunshine not every week but when we could and have Coffee Chats and Cuddles  ( a great time for ladies to just spend time together)

Today there was just Cat and I.
We both sat and chatted and crochet.
Cat crochet a Crochet Hook Holder
I crochet the little Pillow Pincushion above

The flower is crocheted using hand dyed yarn I purchased a few weeks back.. I am in love with hand dyed thread, yarn, ribbon at the moment.

THE PATTERN FOR THIS IS AVAILABLE HERE at my Etsy Shop

My last 10 Days

This is a pincushion design I came up with last week.
This will be sold as a kitset in my webshop that is soon to open.

I received my first box of Tilda fabric on Friday.
This would have to be one of my favourite ranges in Tilda

Also
I joined up in a Pincushion Swap.
I tried something slightly different to what I normally make.
Needle felt... I used roving and felted it with a felting needle and created
this
The cherry is also made using a needle felt.
and of course I had to add some polymer clay pins

I also made a needle felted cupcake applique for the needlecase

This was loads of fun to make.
I wasnt that happy with the quality of the workmanship but I had run out of time and had to send it on.
I made it for Magaret... I will put her blog up soon.. I have to go into another email to fetch the link.

This is what Margaret made me.
Her work is just beautiful
The egg cup is a vintage Noritaki China Egg Cup.. something I just love

A closer look.

Have a great day

Pincushions

I went to visit Catherine yesterday....
Everytime I visit her I come away so inpsired.
I didnt take any handwork with me, as we were going to have a craft day... I was just too tired after a weekend with a sick boy.. lots of sleepless nights. Catherine showed me some books and we talked about blogland and handcrafts. Very inspiring to meet up with people with similar interests!

So I came away feeling like I wanted to make some more gifts for my Christmas stash that Im in the process of buiding up. These pincushions are inspired from the book Scandinavian Stitches. I didnt use the pattern I just looked at the photo and created from there.
They are different sizes and I have added some of the little square to the back of the pincushion too.. just for a nice little touch.

and

and of course

I had to add my new labels....

and

I just love adding those little tags... they give such a professional look.

Welcome to my new readers! What a compliment it is when I see you have added me to your following list.

The next Full of Hearts block will be up on Thurs/Fri 14th, 15th July... depending where you are living.

Happy sewing

Look what I made today..

I had some wool felt that I purchased from Annie's Downs shop when I was in Australia last year.
I had a look through my stash and this is what I have come up with.
The post below has the links for the free pattern.
This is a Heather Bailey design.
I havnt been able to print Heather's pattern off as I carnt get my printer to work on my new laptop. I had the pincushion pattern printed already from another time I downloaded it so that was good.

I just made this by looking at the photo. So please be aware that my leaves are not like the ones on the pattern.

I am now off to make a friend one of my carseat blankies for her new baby. This is one of 'trademarks'... something I love to make any new baby. They are quick, easy (here I go again) Miss Quick and Easy that I am. I have some Paddington Bear fabric that I will be using. Hopefully I will have it made so I can show you tomorrow.

Also, welcome to my new readers... lovely to have you. Thanks for chosing to follow me.. I take that as a compliment.

Happy sewing and loads of inspiration

Mum's Quilt

It is my mum's 70th birthday on Monday. I have been collecting these blue fabrics for a while now and saw the pattern in a book by Leanne Beasley...see other post below for the details of it. Leanne did her quilt in a totally different colour way. Im not a blue person but I am very pleased with how the quilt has come up.. I quilted it myself.. I haven't done the best job of it but it will do. I used a variegated thread of different shades of blue....the wadding is a cotton iron on interfacing ..... I have to say this is a fantastic product. I have never used it before and it works wonderfully. When you wash the quilt the fabric comes away from the wadding.

Im also a pincushion lover and Im a fan of Molly Blossom designs
This is the Milliners Hat Pattern made up. I just love working with felt.

This was a trial of the pattern

I just had to take a picture from a few different angles..

Take care

Until the next creation

Wool felt pincushions

As I said in the last post I received an order of patterns at the end of last week. In amongst the patterns that I had ordered were some May Blossoms patterns. I have to say that I just love these designs. I ordered some kits for these cute little things and for the cupcakes... the cupcakes are cut out and ready for me to handsew.

These little cakes above are all handsewn and very simple to make. I have found a new love, working with wool felt.. it is just so lovely to use, the needle just goes through so easily and it is so lovely to work with. I have one more of the cakes to make from the pattern... a little more fiddley and needs a bit more time, adding the beads...but Ill get to that during the week.

Click HERE to enter my giveaway. I will only accept comments left on the giveaway post, as it starts to get a little confusing.
