What Have I been up to?

I have a been up to quite abit lately.
I made this Annie type doll for a showcase I am in this week on Facebook. I love the challenge of showcases. I love to put my creative thinking cap on and look to come up with some One of A Kind type of things... this is my first ever one and I have booked into 4 so far.

The doll above dosent have a name as yet.. I had better put my thinking cap on to come up with that before she goes on sale. The showcase is of a Cartoon Theme for children... there is lots of lovely things that have been created by lots of handcrafters here in New Zealand and Australia.

We have also been away.
A friend has a lovely place in Queenstown New Zealand we were able to stay in
We had a lovely time down there

We had beautiful weather and the trees are starting to turn beautiful colours with Autumn

I am an animal lover.
I have also recently become very much in love with fibre art. I love to spin, dye and ply wool. I love to do things with fabric, wool, cotton and embroidery thread together. I have been experimenting. So while we were away I got to pat an Alpaca.. their fleece is so soft and they are the most amazing colours.

I have been spinning abit of Alpaca latley and it is sooo soft and warm..

This is a hat I made for a friends little baby due in a few weeks.

This is Sophia with a cute little hat and scarf set.

I made these matching hats for these precious little girls recently. What little cuties they are!

and in the process of getting stock together for my website I made this newborn dress. This is made from lovely hand-dyed machine washable wool

I had some dyed wool roving left over after I had done some spinning... so I made this cute little rose out of it..... I thought it would be a cute little addition to my beanie hats I am making.

So I have been busy busy... there is alot more to show you but this post would be super long if I did..

Have a great day

Birthday and Creativity

A nnumber of months ago I sketched up a number of house pictures.

I was going to make a quilt out of them. I have had a dear blogging friend that has been stitching them up for me. She has got busy, which happens to us all and was unable to finish some of the blocks.

I got to thinking what else I could do with these pictures. I was on Pinterest the other day, a place I find very inspiring. I found inspiration from a picture I saw there. So I decided to get creating  a felt picture with one of the designs.

This is what I came up with. This is made with Wool Felt, vintage buttons and vintage anchor threads.

Also
It was my birthday yesterday.

Here is my day today with my dear blogging friends

Just had the best morning

My last 10 Days

This is a pincushion design I came up with last week.
This will be sold as a kitset in my webshop that is soon to open.

I received my first box of Tilda fabric on Friday.
This would have to be one of my favourite ranges in Tilda

Also
I joined up in a Pincushion Swap.
I tried something slightly different to what I normally make.
Needle felt... I used roving and felted it with a felting needle and created
this
The cherry is also made using a needle felt.
and of course I had to add some polymer clay pins

I also made a needle felted cupcake applique for the needlecase

This was loads of fun to make.
I wasnt that happy with the quality of the workmanship but I had run out of time and had to send it on.
I made it for Magaret... I will put her blog up soon.. I have to go into another email to fetch the link.

This is what Margaret made me.
Her work is just beautiful
The egg cup is a vintage Noritaki China Egg Cup.. something I just love

A closer look.

Have a great day

I've been busy...

I have been asked to take a a workshop in a few weeks for a few ladies.
They want to make a brooch or a hanging heart from felt.
This is the first sample I came up with for them was the brooch in the above photo
I had to make it simple and easy.. hopefully this is simple and easy

Also...
A humbug bag for my son.
He needed a pencil case for school. I thought of making him up a humbug bag.. but this one is too small..
I made it from the laminated fabric that I will have on my website.
It makes the perfect pencil case fabric... I now have a larger one cut out and ready to go. This will probably get used as a toilet bag for trips away.
\
My little man's name is Zac.
I made a felt tag for the zip and embroidered his initial on it.
He thought that was rather 'cool' as he has just learnt how to write his name.

On the weekend I purchased a kit to make a gift box.
I love making gift boxes and cards. I love making a gift that little bit special.
The kit contained the cardboard and papers to make these.
They didn't take long to make... I had them made in no time.

When I receive my Tilda papers I will put a tutorial up on how to make them.
They will look just gorgeous made out of Tilda product.

My Tilda product is still in transit... say no more....

and on the weekend when I purchased these kits I listened to a lady talk about 'Declutter"... what a very interesting talk that was. I am a self proclaimed 'messy'. I have been seeking to get myself in order for a number of months. I have been throwing so much away and getting more minimalistic.

What the lady said about a messy is:
She is creative
She is 'task' orientated
She is a perfectionist
and
She is ambidextrous (can do alot of things at once)

I was rather encouraged .... A messy isnt so bad after all.

In my sewing room I always make a creative mess!

in the last week I have been busy getting my website sorted.. this is incredibly time consuming. It is taking me alot longer than I had anticipated. In amongst all this I have moved my sewing room from a small room in our living area into a spacious bedroom one of my son's vacated a little while ago...
What a huge mission this has been!! I was SHOCKED at how much stuff I had in my possession!  What is so great is that everything is sorted out.. everything is in its rightful place, my sewing machine has its own little corner... and I have decluttered.. before the declutter talk.. which was great.

Photos of my new room will be coming soon.

Have a great day

Felt Rose

Well I was pretty excited yesterday
I was in my stats for Lydias Treasures and I saw a link there that I hadnt seen before
I clicked on it and came to this blog LoveLove

Courtney had used by Felt Rose Tutorial for the clips and hairband she made above.
I just LOVE what she has created. So cute.

This Rose Tutorial of mine has had over 27,000 views. Astounding isnt it!?
I made that rose when I made a mistake on my Phoebe elephant designed by Melly and Me
in the below photo
I had to find a way to cover my mistake.. well necessity is the mother of inventions.
I created this rose then decided to do the tutorial.

I am amazed at how many visits this cute little rose has had.

Another blogger used this tutorial as well.
This rose is made from an old knited jumper that has been felted.
This blog is Resweater I just love what did with it.

and I have been knitting
The last few days
This is what Im knitting
Im doing it in a lovely red
I hope to get this finished! but I do get bored LOL!
It is a cape not a jacket.. just gorgeous I think.

So what are you ladies creating... ?
Have a great day..

Felt Favour Party Bag

This little cutie is made from an idea from a cardboard bag my daughter received from a birthday party she went to.
I have kept it and was going to make some, as I love making cards and gift boxes etc.
This morning I was looking at it and thought I could make that into a felt bag.

I have searched online for 2" x 2" bags on stamping sites etc but I just cannot find the instructions. If any of you know the bag Im talking about please let me know and I willl put the link or video from You Tube up for all to see... thanks.
If not I will put this on my 'to do' list for you and do a tutorial of them at some time.
They are very cute and a little girl would just love them.
There is no sewing.. all glued except for the yoyo. but of course you could use anything to embellish the front.

Very quick and easy... thats my motto.

Mini Wreath Tutorial

This wreath is made from a small poly wreath
The flower arrangement is made from felt roses and leaves.

Strips are cut 2" wide.
Glue the fabric on the back of the wreath and wind around
and

around until the poly wreath is covered. I leaved the edges frayed.
I then added some braid - ric rac and wound that around too

I then made some felt roses from my tutorials

Felt Rose Tutorial HERE
and Folded Rose Tutorial HERE

I also made a tiny rolled rose. This is made starting the same way as the folded rose...
roll it and then fold it back when you have made it the desired size. Stitch.

The mini rolled felt rose is the small pale pink rose..

A closer look at the rolled rose
A closer look at the folded rose.
I thought it was a great idea to make these out of felt. Ive never thought of this idea until yesterday.

Any questions dont hesitate to email me.
