Baby Embroidered Woollen Blanket

I embroidered this a little while ago.

This is one type of embroidery that I love doing.

I came up with this design, as I embroidered. It was inspired by a blanket I saw in an embroidery magazine.

The blanket is made with 100% pure wool fabric and the backing is a very soft minky. This is a blanket that I will always treasure and probably use when my grandchildren come to visit in the future.

Baby Shoes

Gorgeous Satin Baby Shoes with a hand crocheted flower and hand embroidery.

This is all a part of me getting stock ready for my website....limited edition babywear gifts.

I have loved making babywear and gifts for years. I used to have a couple of gift shops that sold my wares for a few years. I stopped doing this when I had my last two littlies.

Now I want to do what I am passionate about.. that is alot of things, if you have been reading my blog of late.  :-)  BIG SMILES

So over the next little while you will see some of my baby creations on my blog and Facebook.

I madE a little bag for the shoes to go into

A crocheted flower made with vintage Coats thread I purchased from an antique shop.

I am very pleased to say that these are SOLD

Have a great creating day.

Cross Stitch

As I mentioned the other day I had recently purchased the Eline Pellinkhof book Stitch and Sew Home, the design above is from this book
I found this Dutch designer about 18months ago and searched the net for her book in English... but it was not available. I was very excited to see that this addition was in English.. I am hoping that she will have other printed in English at some stage... I just love her creativity and the use of different media together.

I had not done cross stitch for quite sometime. I dabbled a little last year for a Santa Sack Swap I took part in making my partner a decoration ...  This was a pattern I purchased from Etsy the shop called The Little Stitcher click HERE to visit her shop, she has some sweet designs.

I went to Spotlight, one of our local craft outlets here in New Zealand to look for some White Stitching Paper... I could not find any, so I decided to use plastic... this was not available in white... so I just purchased what they had.

I have a very large stash of threads... being an embroiderer at heart... I have a large bag with all my threads in bagged colour lots... great organisation dont you think! haha  anyhow, I then had to match up the colours with the DMC colours stated in the book... mine are not the same... here is what I used:

RED DMC - 498
MED PINK DMC - 3806
LIGHT PINK DMC - 605
DARK PINK (part of a verigated thread)
MED GREEN DMC - 581
LIGHT GREEN DMC - 472

When I had finished I realised I had to find a way of finishing the project off. Not using paper for the project and using a hard plastic I had to think of a way of doing this... I thought white fabric at the back, stretched over a canvas.... I found a Riley Blake Pink fabric with the co-ordinating lace from the Sew Together range that went perfect with the colours I had chosen.

So I hand stitched the pink fabric to the plastic, then hand stitched the lace around the edge.

I then glued the whole picture onto the white fabric that was stretched onto the canvas

It looks so pretty on the wall in our room

I hope you are having a creative week.....

Crochet Pillow Pincushion

I had a friend over today
We have known each other through the blog community for a while

Last year we would catch up on a Wednesday with Leonie from 3 x Sunshine not every week but when we could and have Coffee Chats and Cuddles  ( a great time for ladies to just spend time together)

Today there was just Cat and I.
We both sat and chatted and crochet.
Cat crochet a Crochet Hook Holder
I crochet the little Pillow Pincushion above

The flower is crocheted using hand dyed yarn I purchased a few weeks back.. I am in love with hand dyed thread, yarn, ribbon at the moment.

THE PATTERN FOR THIS IS AVAILABLE HERE at my Etsy Shop

Hand Woven Scarf

This is my latest creation.

A Hand Woven Scarf done on my old/new weaving loom I recently purchased.
What a relaxing craft weaving is. I had a small loom when I was young and it bought the memories back of weaving and creating when I was as young as 7-8 years old.

I used acrylic wool for the whole scarf. I picked up two balls of the bobble wool from Spotlight for $1 each and I thought that this would be a great first attempt after all these years.

Making this was quicker than knitting.. I didnt realise how quick weaving grows.

I made the flowers out of a gorgeous hand dyed yarn I have been using recently for a new quilt I am making. I just am in love with the colours.

This scarf is for my little girl .. she is loving it. She is a pink, purple girl... just right for her.

Now Im dreaming up what I'll make next on the loom.

Also, I have a tutorial neally ready to go... its all written up I just have to take the photos..

Happy Valentines Day

Here's an idea ...

Old spinning wheel reels

I recently purchased a spinning wheel.

In the process of doing this I came across some old spinning reels. this one I am using to store some of my precious braids.

Im a lace, braid and ribbon lover.
This braid pictured is made in France.. I love it.
I got to thinking this was a great way for me to admire it instead of putting it away in a box.

I am also going to put lace on some of them, a great way to see and display lovely braids and laces.

LIttle Miss Princess

I created this little cutie yesterday
She is approx 8 in tall.

I really loved making her. Her dress is removable. She has lace undies with a hand embroidered rosebud. The necklace is also removable, I made this as I was dressing her up and the ideas were flowing . Her hair is in a bun and wrapped in netting.

I will be making these dolls on an on going basis and they will be available for custom orders. I am looking at making the necklaces different... with crystal droplets and maybe letter charms.

My little girl is 7 years old. This morning when she woke up I showed it to her. She held her and danced around the house like a ballerina.. so cute! She was doing pirouettes with Miss Princess's legs... it was such a delight to see my little girls face.

Have a great day

Meet Miss Molly and Miss Daisy

Meet Miss Daisy

I have used vintage lace, french braid to make her dress.
The flower is a Riley Blake Sew Together Flower...also on the dress..  (on my website)

I have a few new ideas for this year. One of these is making and creating my own doll designs.

After reading a book recently about creativity I realised that I am best to put my efforts into my strengths and passions.

What are my passions:

Embroidery
Embellishing
3D work
Yo yo's
Sewing
Ribbon Embroidery
Dolls
Fabric
Lace
Drawing
Painting
Fibre Art
Knitting
Crochet
Clay
Braids and Ribbons
Tilda
Fabric

and of course many other things

These things make me excited. They make me passionate. Put me in a room full of these things and see what I can come up with. I LOVE using all the things listed above

I am going to have these on my website ... not these little gals but others.. they will all be One Off dolls. Some will have the same face but their outfits will have quirky differences.

Miss Daisy

This little lady is named after a little girl I know who has ginger hair.

The dress is made from Lecien (available on my website) The crochet shoes, hat, flower and the pansies I made. The thread used for the pansies is a hand dyed yarn from a New Zealand hand dyer.

I am loving the diversity I give myself permission to have, in making these things that delight me!

Have a great day
