New Quilt off to the Quilter

I have been making hexies.... in the process of designing a new quilt.

These lovely hexies are made using a machine washable iron on fabric. They are the best invention. I will have these on the website soon. I will never go back to doing hexies the old fashioned way again.

This is my new quilt design on its way to the quilter. This is made using Folk Tale fabric by Cinderberry Stitches. This will be available in a kit form or pattern. There is applique, hexies and some embroidery in this quilt. It is a single bed size. made especially for my little girl.

Also just arrived in on Friday.. the new Flower Sugar range for 2013 Oh my gosh it is totally gorgeous!!

and a sneeky look at another quilt design I am also working on. This is made using Durham Anew fabric by Lecien and I am sooo pleased with it. It is very very pretty it has 5 stitchery blocks with the addition of a small amount of hand applique and yoyo's.

I have a Christmas Quilt almost finished... I have been very busy designing away.... the new design phase I am in at the moment has been encouraged by a lady in the fabric industry that seems to think I have a talent that needs to be put out there.... so this quilt above is going to be names after her... The name and the total picture of it is yet to come...  It must be quilted first  xx

Hugs to all and have a great day!

What is Zakka?

I have been asking myself this question of late.
I have a board on Pinterest of what I though Zakka was. Linen with appliqued or small pieces of fabric.
Well, after a little research I have discovered that it is in fact a Japanese word that means 'miscellanous goods'
The book above I have seen around and have been tempted to purchase, but I think I might just have a go at designing some Zakka myself.

This book here has a few Australian designers that have contributed, Lynette Anderson being one of them. As you know I am a fan of Lynette and I find her a great inspiration.

So Zakka really is something that is useful, sewn and lovely to look at. I love the sound of that. I also love the linen, embroidery, handsewing nature that I think Zakka has. I am now going to get out the pencils and draw down some ideas.

I came across this articule on my websearch about Zakka that you might find interesting.

I hope you are all having a great week.

Useful Tools

I realised why my Tilda Doll was in the too hard basket!
I lost my hemostat tool months ago and I really do not like trying to turn the doll arms etc without it.

Well, my hubby found it the other day!  I am celebrating.. so I will now get onto making my doll.
I highly recommend this tool for turning out doll parts.
I found some HERE  at the Cloth Doll Supply shop.
They come in three different sizes.

I highly recommend them. In the Tilda Doll Kits there is a kebab type stick in it for turning out the doll. This works but it makes the job very fiddly.

Also, I new tool I came across at a Lynette Anderson class a couple of weeks ago.

Apliquick Tool
Click HERE to visit their Facebook page
This tool is amazing to use with a bit of Rosanne Fabric glue your applique will never be the same.

Lynette and I with the class sample

Handstitched piecing... Yes.. Lynette handstitches hers.. and I can see why!

Making progress with my block...  Using Lynette's new Christmas Fabrics

Lynette at work

Those tools are amazing!! All done with glue Applquick and then the stitching

Not pressed yet... but Im happy with it.

Have a great day.
