Tilda Wooden Spools

I purchased some wooden spools, they are not Tilda and are slightly smaller but they do the same thing.

I painted them with white acrylic paint and Mod Podged the printable circle onto the top. The printable circle was too large for the spools I had to reduce by 50% for it to fit onto the top.
These are quick and easy to make.

The rose pins I made a little while back ... these add some prettiness

I lovely addition to my studio

My Little Angels

 My latest little angel...

I did a blog post the other day of an angel... I wasnt that happy with it so I decided to refine and embellish it a bit more to my liking. This is the latest creation. She is made from a Charm Square for the dress. There is no sewing involved... all handmade.

Then I was inspired by a doll I saw on Pinterest and decided to try and create something with a crochet dress

This is what I came up with.. no pattern used.

The cotton used for the dress is hand dyed. I made the wire flowers, one in her hair and one on her dress. She is all handmade with no sewing involved. I so enjoyed creating these little cuties.

I am on a crochet buzz at the moment. I find it so relaxing, with all of what has been going on in my world that is just what I am in need of.

I bought some lovely cotton that a shop wasnt bringing into the country anymore, there were one of each colour  left.  This cotton is made in Greece.. I love the yarns made in Italy and Green... So I purchased them.
I purchased two oranges, pink and a burgundy shade.

I decided to make some Dishcloths out of it.
I am loving some other dishcloths I made before Christmas... I have to highly recommend them.. they are fantastic to use in the kitchen and I was told the other day that they can be used as Face Cloths (flannels) as they are a great for exfoliating.

I hope you having a good day... we have beautiful sunshine here in Auckland

Tilda Skin Fabric

I have had a few emails from people asking me what fabric I use for my Tilda Dolls.

As you know I sell some Tilda fabric in my online shop. It is expensive for me to bring Tilda into New Zealand so for the moment I only have limited stock available.

So when you are looking for the requirements you need to create your doll you improvise, well I do and I have had to over the last 3 years, as Tilda fabric has been hard to come by.
I use a good quality calico or a linen that is a tone close to what I need. For the Tilda Bunny I used linen for the above Tilda Angel I used calico.

So really it is you choice. Tilda skin fabrics come in dark tone colours for gingerbread men etc. I would tea dye my fabric for a darker look. At some stage I will get some Tilda skin fabrics in but for the moment I make do with what I can get.

I hope this helps answer some of your questions.

Little Angel Doll

My latest little creation.
I created this little sweetie yesterday. I will offering these for sale (no two will be alike) over this year. There will be an option to hang them on the Christmas Tree, with a hanger provided.

She is a free standing angel doll all made by hand.
She is holding a folded felt rose
and has a folded felt rose in her hair.

My creative mojo is back in full force and I must make hay while the sun shines, so the saying goes.

I hope you are having a great day.

Im back .....

I have been away for a month... we home for a just a few days to repack and head off again.
The first trip was to beautiful Queenstown, in the South Island of New Zealand, the second trip was on a boat sailing to the Bay of Islands in the north of the North Island.

I decided to take a small suitcase with me full of my crafty items... mainly consisting of knitting needles, crochet hooks, wool, pens, pencils and drawing paper. I used nearly everything I took... a small miracle. :-)

The above photo is of a little bunny I knitted... I so enjoyed making her.. Lily is her name.
I had limited colours of wool on board so I used what I had. The pattern was for DK.. I used 4 ply doubled - Merino. So the bunny is soft and warm to cuddle.

Lily needed a companion so I am now making  Samuel. He is nearly finished.

Lily's boots

Also, I purchased just before I went away, some hand dyed yarn..
I my gosh, I fell in love with this yarn and it was a must have.
I created this little blanket.
It was a design as I went blanket. The variegated wool is the hand dyed yarn.
A closer look.

I took part in the Christmas Santa Sack Swap
I have not had an opportunity to take photos and upload until now.
Here is my Santa Sack above

Here are my wonderful goodies!!
Tilda fabric.. which I LOVE and many other lovely treasures.

Thank you so much Michell

PS... I have just realised I forgot to photograph the cushion Michell gave me.. Sorry!

and just a small glimpse of some pics from my trip away.
Queenstown is a very beautiful place.
The snow on the mountains was so beautiful to see... a peaceful, tranquil place

The boat.
A friend kindly lets us use his boat. My husband a yachty from his childhood loves a holiday on the water

Me, haha, in my snorkel gear.. what a sight to behold!
This is the first time I have ever purchased a wetsuit in my live and I enjoyed every single minute of being in the water.

We went fishing and I caught two sharks.. which thankfully jumped off the hook...

 And a touch of Kiwiana

Our native Puhutakawa tree
These are like the New Zealand Christmas tree. They have a mass of red flowers. The come out around Christmas time every year. This one was particularly red I saw.

This is an old house on an island in the harbour of Auckland.
It was built by the USA Army in the war. This island is just a mass of lava rock from the explosion that took place many years ago.

This is the island we climbed. It is all lava rock and gets very hot and the black rock attracts the heat. The view from the top is well worth the 1 1/2 hour walk to the top. I always thought it was an island the erupted but I found out the other day that this island came from an eruption under the sea... the amount of lava that came out is an incredible sight.

So that is a bit about me... I have other creations that I have made just yet to photograph them.

I have plans for my blog and website this year... plans are there lets hope they happened.

Have a great day
