Been sewing my Christmas Quilt

Today I have been sewing up the blocks for my quilt.

The above photo is of one of the blocks... One of my favourite house blocks

This photo is the blocks on the 'design floor'... not the wall  lol
the angel is not completed. The above right house is the 'Holly House" another of my favourite blocks in the quilt.

The little hearts is a design I came up a number of months ago.. I was going to use this as my logo but I went for the butterfly instead. These satin stitched hearts will be scattered through out the quilt.

Hexies will probably be scattered throughout the quilt... not the border.. havn't got time to do a border of hexies this time around.. maybe with the next quilt I design. I have some Hollyhock fabric in the stock and I have to make something up with these fabrics.. they are gorgeous!!

I love Christmas Puddings.. I think they are so cute. As some of you know I have a pattern available for Mini Christmas Puds.. so I had to add something like that to my quilt.

And of course some Christmas bells.

So this quilt has all things I love..
Swirls
Hearts
Christmas Puds
Angels
Yoyo's

I hope to get it at least sewn up before I go away on my USA trip. I will send if off to be quilted and then it will be ready when I get back...

You are probably thinking but Lisa you are meant to be opening you website... Hmmm yes ... I am just deciding what to do... open it before I go or when I get back... ?? that's the question

Don't forget the draw for the Tilda book if you 'like' my page on Facebook. I will draw that on Friday 31st..
On Friday the 31st I will put up another giveaway for my blog readers... so watch the space for that.

Thank you for your lovely comments in my last post and also my giveaway post.. I have been very busy and unable to answer all my emails... SORRY.

I hope you have all had a great weekend.

Christmas Quilt in the making

This is my new quilt at the designing stages.

When I did my class with Lynette Anderson a few weeks ago I was inspired. I learnt newish techniques or better techniques for what I love to do. I am always drawing and doodling. As you know I have put up a few free stitchery designs at different times.

I felt challenged in myself to create my own Christmas quilt design using Lynette's new fabrics for Christmas called Christmas Fun fabrics. The hurdle I was finding hard to jump over was that these are fabrics designed by a designer and she uses them in her own designs. I could not get my head around trying to do something of my own with her fabrics. Lynette mentioned in class that she had come across someone in blogland that had created a tablerunner using Lynette's fabrics.. it was like a light went on in my head and I thought.... I am going to give this ago.

So I came home and got drawing.

The above stitchery blocks is what I have come up with.... I am thinking of doing a log cabin type of block for each stitchery. I have had so much fun doing the applique and stitching.

Writing the pattern is the hard part!

Have a good weekend

I am loving crochet and fabric together at the moment. I am dreaming up ideas to make with them both. I have just been loving crochet lately.. it is sooo relaxing.

Also, I am working on a Christmas small quilt using Lynette Anderson fabric's for Christmas ... Christmas Fun. I am very excited about this cute little quilt. I have used applique, colonial knots, satin stitch hears, swirls and yoyo's.. all the things I love... Ill try to get some photo's taken of it so you can have a peek.

Don't forget the giveaway on my Facebook page.. Lovely to meet all my new 'liker's' on there... lol  thanks for 'liking' me ....

My shop isn't quite live yet... just a little more training for me to do so I know what I am doing.

Crochet, Crochet and some sewing

Here is my latest crochet creation in the making.
The teacosy is done in a chunky wool. The flowers are so simple and look so effective on the top. When I have finished I will post a photo of it.

Also,
I saw on Pinterest  I saw this cute crochet Fusion Crochet Blanket Sew Along. I was very inspired to have a go at making one. I posted it on Facebook and Cat from Catalina's Cottage suggested that we do a sew along together.
So we got sewing and crocheting.

I chose Tilda Flowergarden fabrics combined with a lovely soft baby double knit wool.
I am so enjoying making this blanket.

On the other side of the blanket I am using Flower Sugar by Leicen. so my blanket will be reversable.

Im hoping to have this finished very soon.

and I also had a sewing class to teach today. My daughter and two of her friends wanted to learn to sew.
They chose to make a skirt.
They made a fantastic job.

We had a heap of fun and they finished their skirts in a day.

We are now looking forward to doing this again   :-)

I hope you are having a great weekend

Lynette Anderson and a crochet blanket

What a fantastic day it was
This photo is of what I completed in my class.
The Shepherd's Cottage Bag Stitchery.

The class was held at Grandmother's Garden down in Gordonton here in New Zealand. I have admired Lynette Anderson's designs for years... many years.. maybe over 10 years  or more.. ooch that makes me feel abit old  lol

Anyway, I had the most wonderful day. There were around 9 of us in the class and we all just enjoyed sitting stitching and getting to know each other. I learnt some awesome skills from Lynette - as she is into 'quick and easy' as I am myself.... I was rather inspired to be with a creative lady that I could totally relate to on the creative line. She loves to draw and likes to do things the easy way and I just found this soooo encouraging. Lynette is a lovely lady.. gentle and just lovely to be around. If you ever have a chance to go to one of her classes I HIGHLY RECOMMEND you spend the money and go.. you will NOT be disappointed.

If I could I would organise for her to come to Auckland so us Aucklander's could be spoilt with her creative flair. If I ever have my own shop maybe one day...  in my dreams (dreams are free)!

The day started with looking at the pattern and listening to instructions.

The ironing on of the transfer (notice the quilt in the background) This is a new quilt in Lynette's new Christmas book coming out soon. Sorry I cannot remember the title name. I have ordered one of course! I have the new fabrics for the website so I have to make something up from it.... and maybe something of my own design.... after being inspired by Lynette.

Lynette Anderson at work
and again

work in progress

and some of you know my fear of hexies... I admire anyone that takes on these cuties and I really havnt wanted to.
Well, one of the reason's I took this class is I wanted to try to give these a go.. Well I have to say my fear of hexies vanished in about 30 seconds... I am now officially addicted to Lynette's way of doing these.

They are so quick, cute and easy...

Quick and Easy that's my motto  :-)

So thanks Lynette for making this a fabulous day!

Also... this is my now finished crochet blanket.
I love to crochet. I ran out of wool...I would like this to have been a much bigger blanket but I am very happy with the end result. It is machine washable 100% wool and is so warm. I look like a real granny sitting stitching and crocheting with this over my legs LOL... oh dear, never mind.

Have a great weekend everyone

Happy Boy Travel Book and ...

I just could not wait to share with you one of the projects I have been working on lately.

This is a new design that will come out in kit form in my webshop as of next week.

Some of you may remember my cut out doll quilt I made a couple of years back.
The post is here
My little girl loves playing with the quilt and the dolls dressing them up with the clothes.

I wanted to design something for boys to play with as I have a little 5 year old boy that feels a little left out. I went to my drawing pad and looked at this fabric and came up with the idea.

I am extremely pleased with it and my little man has 'stolen it' claiming it as his. We are off for a holiday to the USA next month and I thought the book would be a great idea to keep him amused for a little of the time on the plane.

Also, some of you are aware that I have been on a weight loss journey.
I have lost 40kg... which is over 80lbs. I have managed to keep this weight off for some months which is a wonderful thing!
The other day I thought I would try on a dress I made for a 'fancy dress' party a few years back.
I was so excited that I could fit it!
Here it is

It is a vintage vogue pattern. With a zip on the side and pin tucks around the waistline. It is an organza overlay with a satin dress underneath.
I havn't done alot of sewing for myself for a long time. This has inspired me to get out some patterns and get creating.
I am teaching a sewing class for my eldest daughter and her friends in a couple of weeks. They want to learn to sew a simple skirt. So maybe that day I will take along my machine and sew too!

My class with Lynette Anderson tomorrow!! Yiphee.

Bullion Rose Blanket and other things

Back in January I was commissioned to embroider bullion roses onto a knitted baby shawl
The photos above are of this very blanket. You may recall that I didn't have a decent photo of it to show you. Well the grandma of this little treasure text me to let me know that these photos were online for me take a look at.  To check out Nadine's blog click HERE

I have done so many bullions over the years I could almost do them with my eyes shut. I used to do a range of babywear for a couple of gift shops making the clothes and embroidering them myself. I am considering making this a part of my website that should be live next week!!  Yiphee!  The handmade speciality gifts I will have available will not be mass produced and alot of love and care will go into them. So keep an eye out for my new website and giveaways coming up next week.

Also, there will be some special things going on if you 'like' my page on Facebook. Click on the badge on the sidebar.

I have had abit on my plate lately designing patterns for my new website. I find it so hard to to be able to share them on my blog! I will have kits available of my designs and also PDF patterns as well. I will be stocking mainly Lecien, Riley Blake, Linen/Cotton Stitching Fabrics and of course Tilda.

Next week I will also try to get the Android Phone Case Tutorial up for you. I made this like a QAYG method. So keep an eye out for that too.

I am very excited... tomorrow I am off down to Hamilton for the night. I am booked in to do a sewing day class with Lynette Anderson. I am soooo excited.

This is the bag I will be making... yiphee!

I have just received Lynette's latest Christmas fabrics in stock.. they are just gorgeous.

So ladies I hope you have all had a great couple of weeks.

Ill put some pictures up on Thursday of my class with Lynette..

Take care
