Fabric, fabric and more fabric

What gorgeous fabric!
I purchased these on the weekend... I forgot to show you these yesterday.

Here I am to day to confess my fabricholic problem!

Gorgeous Lecien .... these are some of the stock I have for my website that is soon to open.
I am dreaming ideas up for this fabric.. yummy!

I am a linen lover.
This is some fabric I purchased on the weekend also.
I have some Christmas Stitchery ideas for these gorgeous fabrics.

I also love grey and red together.

You all probably think I dont really know what I like.. well that is kind of true.. I have numerous tastes in fabric... I almost need a room for every fabric colour love!

Some little boy fabric... I have four boys... and I find that there really isnt alot out there for boys.. so boys must be catered for in my little shop... it carnt be all pink and white now can it!?

I love laminated fabric.. I have come across this lovely fabric .. my little man is looking forward to something being made for him in this..  I am dreaming up a pattern.. not sure what yet.

The latest Riley Blake fabric Peak Hour...  I just LOVE this fabric.
This will be in store also..  just have to wait on a bit of stock before I can go live.. it is all a little frustrating to say the least... anyhow I will get there eventually.

I had to laugh yesterday Shez, if you are reading this.. The baby chino or the fluffy.. in our accents does sound rather hilarious... I had a laugh about that. Read the below post regarding the Aussie and New Zealand story regarding what we call a child's mild drink at a cafe

Have a great day

My weekend

This was Saturday morning outside our home.
It had been a morning of very thick fog. I looked out the kitchen window and saw a lovley spiders web with the morning dew highlighting it.. it was a gorgeous sight. I grabbed my camera and took a photo.. just for memories sake.. The baskets of flowers are a gift given to me on Mother's Day.. I love the French Country look

We decided to take a break for a night down to Hamilton.. Hamilton is about 1 1/2 hours drive south of Auckland. There is a motel down there that we love to stay at.
So we bundled the kids in the car and off we went.

On our travels down there I love to stopped in to one of my favourite shops, Grandmothers Garden.
Of course I browsed around and had to buy something!
This is not all I purchased but it is a challenge they have running. It has to be finished by the end of June.
It is a panel .. and you have to make it into something. I have started the stitchery on it and have dreamed up something to make. Just carn't tell you what it is at present. I may or maynot get it finished but I thought the challenge was something I have never done before. I love the muted coloured tones of the fabric.

While there a lady mentioned there was a quilting show on at the Hamilton Gardens.
I was very excited to learn of this and thought I must visit.
So the next day, my wonderful hubby looked after the kids at the gardens while I took a look around.
This is some of what I saw

This little quilt was made from tiny hexagons.. and I mean tiny.. I work of art I say!

I dream one day of having the patience to complete a quilt like this! and I think it is certainly in my dreams!
I love the white background
A closer look

A closer look.

I admire Art Quilts. I love fibre art and being able to be creative without following a pattern.
The was very 3D which I like to do.

This quilt I thought was just lovely. It had crystals in the flower arrangement. Love the quilting

I love the hand quilting on this quilt

and of course the winning quilt is just gorgeous and they always are.
I have whole photo of the actual quilt but blogger won't let me upload it.

This is the centre!

with battenburg lace doilies down the side.. look at that quilting

The edged

The centre and the edges

and of course a weekend away needs a stop and a cafe'.. we had a coffee and the kids had their fluffy.. in Aussie language a fluffy is a mini cappa I think! We asked for a fluffy when in Aussie for a holiday and the guy looked at us with the very strange look, as much to say what the heck are you talking about... WHAT is a FLUFFY?! Well, it is a cup with fluffed up milk in it....choc sprinkled on the top with marshmallows on the side. So we got a bit of a laugh out of that, with our accent and all he laughed and so did we!

I also joined a pincushion swap and did the finishing touches on that over the weekend.
It is a little different to what I normally make and will show photos of that when my swap partner receives it.

Have a great day

Now time to make one for yourself Tanya...

Tanya also gave me a cute Shabby Chic Cushion cover.. This is going into my new studio I am in the process of setting up. The apron underneath is quilted and I will be wearing this while in my studio working away.

A keyring made by Tanya.. now I found this intriguing. The ribbon clasp.. how did Tanya do that?
I love working with beads and would love to know how to make this.

Gorgeous buttons... I love buttons off all types..
I also love braids, lace and ribbon.. so thank you for a wonderful pick in colour and style Tanya

I just love this little drawstring bag.. the fabric combo I LOVE..
The whole package put together is just delightful!

THANK YOU TANYA SO VERY MUCH.

It has been a huge success.
I have had many emails from participants saying they have made new friends and have really enjoyed themselves and that is exactly what I wanted. So that to me is a great success.

What I made... Colour Swap 2012

My parcel arrived today in Bangkok.
Tanya from Craft Courture  was my swap partner.

One of her favourite colour combo's was aqua blue and red. So this is obviously what I decided to go with.
I decided to make Tanya a 'Sewing Class Kit'. This is something I MUST do for myself! LOL  well you know how it is.. do for others but not yourself... I do that all the time.....

I had so much fun putting this together. I was soo excited when it was all finished.

In this package was

A Cath Kidston mug with a mug hug ... I came up with the design while I was comtemplating what to stitch on it.... I just loved making this!

Nothing like a nice cuppa while sitting in a sewing class...

A covered notebook, to write notes in class or list down projects  etc.... with of course a yoyo on the front... I LOVE yoyo's

A bag that rolls up into a rose in the foreground... these are very handy little bags to use...
Something to put a project into after the class is finished (maybe).

A hussif. to hold pins, needles, little scissors .. with polymer clay pins I made... I loved making this too!
The hussif folds in a very interesting way... tucks in under the flaps..
This is a pattern I purchased a few years ago. I have made a few of these now.. Quick, Easy and fun to make.

And the mug bag... this fits in the mug, notebook and the hussif.

The stitchery is a designed I dreamed up while deciding what I was going to put on the front...

and a rimu wood (a New Zealand native tree) bookmark that had a Maori carving on the front.. sorry I didnt take a photo of that...

So ladies that is my parcel safe and sound! I am always so relieved when my parcels arrived safely at there destination.

I have been so thrilled to see all the creations arriving on people's blogs. I will put a collage up of everyone's gifts when they have all arrived.

Thanks for taking part.. it has been such an awesome experience to organise with you wonderful ladies.

Thanks for signing up.

Hugs

Mannequin Stitchery

In one of my last posts I had this picture in the background
Some of you were intrigued to know what it was.

It is a design I will be bringing out when my website opens up.
I will have a series of these.

They are mounted on a canvas frame. I great way to display your work. I will have the instructions on how to do this with the stitchery pattern.

I have stitched bullions on this mannequin. The beauty of these designs is that you can do ribbon embroidery, back stitch or bullion stitch for the roses. Instructions on how to do this will also be in the pattern.

I have been busy drawing ideas... some of the ideas I have come up with are more mannequins, houses, Little Wheaties.. such sweeties they are (more on this later), pincushions, owls and others.

I am looking forward to seeing the Colour Swap gifts.. some should be arriving at the destinations very soon.

Have a great day

Bullion Roses

Lots of bullion roses on a handknitted blanket.

Back in Januray this year I was asked if I would do ALOT of bullion roses on to a blanket for a little baby that was due to come into the world.

I was slightly reluctant. When I saw how many I had to do I was even more reluctant. I cannot remember now how many I ended up doing but I did manage to finish it.
This is the photo of just some of them.. taken on my cellphone camera...so not a great photo. The edge of the blanket was a knitted lace... it really was beautiful.

I just thought I would share this little commission I completed.

Altered Box

I visit Michelle's blog  ITS SEW ME. Michelle and I keep in touch over email from time to time.
It is lovely how we can get to know each other in this online crafty community.

Michelle has a cafty group that gets together. I noticed that each month the seem to do some sort of challenge. Last months challenge was to do an Altered Box. They were going  to use a brown paper mache' box from Spotlight. I had one in my craft room to use. I decided to join the challenge for some fun.
As my lovely friend had passed away I was not really up to it but on the weekend I got to creating.

I painted it with a paint that has paper in it.
It takes a while to dry but the effect is really great.
I sprinkled some mother of pearl glitter on the top for some prettiness - we all love a bit of prettiness don't we?

These are paper roses and rosebuds.
I did this arrangment using craft glue

My Shabby Chic picture in the background
This is a series of stitcheries that I will be bringing out in the next few months

Thanks Michelle for giving me the opportunity to join in.. it was fun!

Im in the process of moving my craft room into a new room. For my webshop I needed a studio. I place to store all the fabrics and patterns and have abit of organisation.
So while I am doing this I am finding alot of things.

This above photo is of the design that I used to teach in my classes I used to run.

A closer look.

Have a great day.
