Babushka Doll

This is my latest creation Babushka Doll designed  by Lisa Tilse from The Red Thread.
I purchased her at the craft show I attended just over a week ago.
She is the cutest.
She has blonde hair and blue eyes just like my little girl. I bought another face. The other face has black hair and blue eyes. I am going to make her into a doorstop. They are a good size and would make the perfect doorstop for a little girls bedroom....all you have to do is put a bag of sand..stones or rice, to weigh it down.

I still have to sew her face on properly, I will do that tonight... and I will add a 3D felt flower to her hair...I just wanted to show you what Ive been up to.

I also purchased Lisa's pattern Roxy Long sox. She is kind of cute too.

PS.. the Part 2 of the Tilda Bunny Sew Along is below.

Tilda Bunny Sew Along Part 2

Make sure all sewn pieces are pressed
Stuff the head firm but not tight firm to the neck
Fold the ears  in half to find the middle. Use a pin to mark.  Place the centre of the ears where the seam is...see photo above. Hand sew the ears to the head. I did not do this neatly as they will not be seen.

Stuff the rest of the body

Now stuff the legs and arms. As you can see in the photo, I use a doctors tool to stuff my dolls
You can use a skewer or knitting needle but this is fiddly.

Fold the bottom of the body as shown.
Place the leg as hard up to the side seam of the body as you can get.
Pin through all layers

This is how it should look

Sewing on the arms is the same as the doll.
Fold the edges inwards. The will form a flat edge, as shown in the photo. Pin

Sew from the top in small stitches so they cannot be seen as per the photo.
Sew all around the arm... Do not sew too tightly under the arm, as the arm will have no mobility

Sew the legs in. I stitched each leg right around... then I sewed the middle up from one leg to another.

Your Bunny is all ready to dress.

Next week we will dress our bunnies.

As you know mine is finished. I will show you how to show the hat. The book does not explain how to do it that well. Its not hard when you see it in a photo.

Happy sewing

My Tilda Bunny

I finished my bunny today
I wanted to show you the finished creation so maybe I could inspire some more of my readers to take part.
Im very happy with this little one.
I have used Tilda fabrics except for the body, that is made from linen.
The ric rac is Tilda, the button on the hat is Tilda also.

I had so much fun making this.
It only took me a few hours.
Not very time consuming at all.

I am having another sewing flurry
so I have to strike while the iron is hot, as the saying goes.

Happy creating

Tilda Bunny Sew Along Part 1

As said in a previous post, this is NOT a swap but a Sew Along to make the bunny in the photo.

You will need the fabric for the bunny body
fabric for the lining of the ears
fabric for the clothing
and embroidery thread for the face
This is the hare I made last year for a swap that Cat from Catalina's Cottage and I ran.
The difference between the hare and the bunny is the wire in the ears and the ear patttern and I think its legs are slightly larger, but don't quote me on that.

Steps to start you bunny:
Photos for these instructons have been taken from my Tilda Angel Sew Along as it is the same process.
Trace pattern onto the body fabric (doubled)
or use the freezer paper method.
Before I sew I just pin the fabric  to make sure it doesn't move.

Sew around the lines, making sure that you leave an opening so the arms, legs, body can be stuffed.
Leave the bottom of the body open
Leave the top of the arm open
Leave the top of the leg open.

Sew the ears together, make sure you use two different fabrics, right sides together. Turn in the right way
then sew up the opening by hand or sew on the machine. If you have the opening at the curve (The middle of the ear pattern) this will be covered by the hat, so will not be seen.

Now cut around the sewing line making sure there is about 1/4" of fabric.

Turn all your pieces out. This can be a bit fiddly. Use a kebab stick or a turning tool(if you have one) or I use a doctors kind of pliers to turn my doll pieces out the right way.

Next week we will stuff and handsew up and maybe cut out our clothes.

Happy Sewing

PS. I went to the Craft and Sew Show last Friday. I purchased some lovely fabric and a couple of patterns and a couple of kits.. Ill show you these in a few days. Also, thank you to you all for your lovely comments and well wishes for our anniversary. It has been a true celebration in our home.

Tilda Bunny Sew Along

This is the button that was used for a swap that was run last year.
I am NOT doing an Easter Swap... this photo is an example of the bunny that we will be sewing for the Sew Along.

You will need a bunny pattern from the Tilda book below...
available HERE from Amazon USA
or HERE from Amazon UK

Or

HERE - Coast and Country UK
HERE - Puddlecraft UK

The option is the small or the large bunny.

I am making mine out of a dark linen with a duck blue dress from Tilda fabric.
If you are keen to be a part of this Sew Along please leave a comment on this post.

We will start this Sew Along in a couple of weeks. Just so you can have time to get hold of the book. Im looking forward to making this lovely little bunny in time for Easter

I hope you will join in

Hugs

Felt Favour Party Bag

This little cutie is made from an idea from a cardboard bag my daughter received from a birthday party she went to.
I have kept it and was going to make some, as I love making cards and gift boxes etc.
This morning I was looking at it and thought I could make that into a felt bag.

I have searched online for 2" x 2" bags on stamping sites etc but I just cannot find the instructions. If any of you know the bag Im talking about please let me know and I willl put the link or video from You Tube up for all to see... thanks.
If not I will put this on my 'to do' list for you and do a tutorial of them at some time.
They are very cute and a little girl would just love them.
There is no sewing.. all glued except for the yoyo. but of course you could use anything to embellish the front.

Very quick and easy... thats my motto.
