Wool felt pincushions

As I said in the last post I received an order of patterns at the end of last week. In amongst the patterns that I had ordered were some May Blossoms patterns. I have to say that I just love these designs. I ordered some kits for these cute little things and for the cupcakes... the cupcakes are cut out and ready for me to handsew.

These little cakes above are all handsewn and very simple to make. I have found a new love, working with wool felt.. it is just so lovely to use, the needle just goes through so easily and it is so lovely to work with. I have one more of the cakes to make from the pattern... a little more fiddley and needs a bit more time, adding the beads...but Ill get to that during the week.

Click HERE to enter my giveaway. I will only accept comments left on the giveaway post, as it starts to get a little confusing.

My first tutorial and Phoebe from Melly and Me

Well today I got to sewing.
This is what I made
Phoebe is a pattern by Melly and Me.
I made a slight mistake while making little Phoebe and I had to think of something to cover it up..so I came up with a felt rose..

So little Phoebe got dressed up with a rose on her head.
If you would like to purchase a pattern for Phoebe I have a couple in stock at the moment

This will be news to my regular followers but  I sell Melly and Me patterns and many other Australian designers patterns. I have been doing so for a number of months. I have a website up and running but I have decided to now have a blog shop going instead. It is alot easier for me to update. I just cannot get my head around the updating a website so for the moment and a blogshop it will be. I have been selling these patterns for about 8 months now on an auction site. I havent mentioned it on here, I have no explanation as to why.. but there's some news for you :-)

I have a huge number of Melly and Me patterns, Rosalie Quinlan, Janelle Wind, Natalie Ross, Cinderberry Stitches and others patterns that I have to put up. If you visit my studio blog please be mindful that I will be listing these as I get the time.

Click the buy now button on the sidebar and pay $22.50 inclusive of shipping worldwide.

I have cut out Magoo the Monkey today. I am making him for my little 3 year old boy to take on the plane when we fly off in a few weeks. I will put him up on my blog in the next few days.. I managed to source some very cool fabrics for Mr Magoo.
I have now come up with a Felt Rose Tutorial I like to share with you

My Charm Pack Bag is finished

Well if you read my post this morning I was saying how I have been looking for a Charm Pack bag pattern. I couldnt find one that used ONE charm pack. So I set to designing one myself. This charming (excuse the pun!)bag  is made from just one charm pack. I am so delighted with the finished product. I started on this yesterday and finished it this afternoon.
This fabric is from the Charm Pack by Moda that Pam sent me for the Mother's Day Swap I was in. I am now going to make up more of this bags as they are very addictive!!
I had some square left over that I was going to use for the inside pocket.. I could have done this,  but I used the lining fabric instead. I am going to make a matching zip purse to go with the bag..Ill show you that later.
I may bring the pattern out for this bag.. but there is alot involved in thinking of what to write !! I have done some quirky things that Im not going to find easy to explain...

The other side

Also this morning a mention about my love of Leicen fabrics...
Well the above photo is of some of my stash... most of these are my new fabrics.. I just LOVE them!!

Here is the books that I also love written by some very talented Japanese designers. These books are all in Japanese and I dont understand any of it but the diagrams are good...so I could work it out.

And my new arrival... Yiphee!!!
Tilda!! yes I ordered some Tilda fabric from England and I received it today...also some ribbons by Tilda too... The colours are the muted pinks, duck blue and of course the gorgeous red...

so thats me for the moment...

Catch ya later

A bag I made for a SWAP

Hi all, I recently joined a bag swap through the Snickerdoodles crafty community. I recieved my gorgeous bag from Brita from Norway...which I love and I use it everyday.

This was the third bag I made and 'third time lucky' so the saying goes. It just had to be right and I just wasnt happy with the others I made... they just didnt seem to fit the description of what Brita liked. So here it is below.. I have used Leicen fabrics on this bag... I am a Leicen fan.. I just love their fabrics. I recently found a shop here in Auckland that specialising in Leicen fabrics. So I had a spending spree on stashing up on these gorgeous muted toned fabrics.

Three pansy styled flowers on one side and one the other side I made one large flower but the photo wont show up for some reason.

The inside pocket with a trim on the top

And the pieced handles.

I have been looking online for a pattern to make a bag out of one charm pack... do you think I could find one... No.. so I set to designing one myself. I will have this to show you at some stage.. it is half finished. I am delighted it with it.

Have a good day

My Painted Fabric Bag

Well here it is...

I decided to make it into a bag. The lighting here is not that good today as we have heavy rain going on. So the colour isnt captured that well.
Anyway I am very very pleased with the finished product.
The front and back fabric on the bag is what I made in my Fabric Art Class on Wednesday. The process was stamping the white cotton with stamps made from polystyrene.. Painted with normal acrylic paint...left to day and then a transparent coloured paint washed over the top ... While it was trying I sprayed it with a green aging dying which really bought the colours out. The wash paint I used was metalic so there is a lovely glitter all over the fabric.
I then embellished with the stamped fabric I made in class. I made the folded roses and gathered up the ribbon and added some beads
A closer look at the front

The back of the bag... This is stamped with the polystyrene stamp too and then I have gone over some of it with a bronze metalic paint... I have added a few beads along the way.

A closer look

I have also started a couple of BOM's one of the being the one made from the French General fabric by Moda. Ohhh Im pleased with the first block ... These fabrics are gorgeous. Im doing a similar quilt to Full of Hearts but I am doing flowers instead... and Im adding extra things into it as well.

So Im off to do some stitching. The weather here is terrible but we are pleased that the drought we have been having is now broken.. so who's can complain.

Have a lovely weekend

I went to a fabric art class today

Well here is something that I have been hanging out to do for a very long time.. I discovered a lovely patchwork shop on the weekend that teaches Fabric Art classes. I booked myself in. So today I spent 3 hours having an awesome time creating.

The above photo is of the fabric that I painted and stamped up. It was so much fun!!!

Painting and stamping silk
I LOVED this process

Stamping fabric with fabric stamp ink... this was fun
Stamping on muslin... this was also fun.. so watch the space and see what I create. I have it laid out on the table at the moment ready for beading, sewing, hand stitching etc.. how exciting.
